An endoscopic brow lift is a form of brow lift surgery that utilizes an endoscope and small incisions in the scalp for a minimally invasive procedure. Often, this procedure can achieve the same effects as a traditional brow lift.
An endoscope is inserted through the incisions that allow surgeons to view the area on a tv monitor while they work. Local anesthesia is administered so patients remain asleep during the procedure.
Forehead skin is lifted, brows are repositioned, and any muscle tissue that is causing forehead creases or wrinkles. Excess skin is also sometimes tightened. This procedure is also sometimes referred to as an endoscopic forehead lift or eyebrow lift. The terms are synonymous.
Endo brow lift is the newest of all brow lifting techniques in the world of cosmetic surgery. Popularity is growing rapidly.
Endoscopic brow lift vs traditional “open” brow lift
There are multiple techniques used for lifting the brow depending several factors. The desired effect, the age of the patient, the degree of necessary work, the plastic surgeon performing the work, etc. In general, there are either endoscopic or open brow lifts. Endoscopic procedures being most popular due to the following benefits.
Benefits of endoscopic procedures
Aside from just the brow lift, endoscopic cosmetic procedures, in general, provide many benefits.
Since there are only small incisions required when using an endoscope, they heal more quickly. Faster healing means less time at home or away from your normal activities. Recovery time for this procedure averages between 10 and 14 days for wound healing. Though you will at that point appear normal, there could be more time required before the healing process is complete. It is best to stay on “light duty” until then.
No long scars
Open brow lifts require a much larger incision and thus have a greater risk of noticeable scarring even when taken care of properly during the healing process. Endoscopic procedures require much smaller incisions, and thus, endoscopic brow lift scars are much less noticeable, if noticeable at all.
No hair loss
Again, due to smaller incisions, the risk of noticeable hair loss due to scarring and healing is less than it is with an open procedure. The less invasive the procedure, the less risk of hair loss.
