Brow Lift Chicago
A Brow Lift, also called a forehead lift, raises sagging brows that create hooding of the upper eyelids, reduces wrinkle lines across the forehead and between the eyebrows, and creates a more alert and youthful appearance. Sagging eyes can also lead to decreased vision.

Types of Brow Lifts
Endoscopic Brow Lift
An endoscope is a tiny camera mounted on the end of a long thin tube. It is used to view the underlying muscles and tissues. Endoscopes are used in a variety of minimally invasive procedures at Chicago Cosmetic Institute.
In endoscopic brow lifting, an additional instrument is used with an endoscope inserted through small incisions in the hairline. The surgeon lifts the forehead tissues to the desired area and sutures it in place, effectively raising the brow. Sometimes small screws and other techniques are needed for anchoring the brow in the desired position.
The incisions are then closed with stitches or clips and heal normally.
Coronal Brow Lift
A larger incision is made from ear to ear along the hairline. Your surgeon lifts the forehead into the desired position. Scalp tissue overlapping the incision line is removed and the incision is closed and stitched.
Hairline Brow Lift
An incision is made in the top of the forehead instead of the scalp. A small amount of skin from the top of your forehead will be removed.
The hairline brow lift removes the risk of hairline being pulled back in the process, but scarring along the hairline is more common.
Most brow lifts share the same goals:
- Diminish the appearance of wrinkles that appear across the forehead, on the bridge of the nose, and between the eyes.
- Improve the appearance of frown lines.
- Raise sagging brows.
- Improve Vision.
Why is it done?
A natural part of aging causes brows to move down and “sag”. As the skin loses youthful elasticity, the distance between the eyebrows also shortens.
Many of our patients do not like the way this looks, feeling it makes them seem angry, sad, or tired. The brow lift is designed to refresh the area and provide youthful proportions and a more pleasing appearance.
Am I a good candidate for brow lift?
A brow lift is suited to patients who feel their eyebrows are lower than they’d like and want to improve the appearance of their eyes as well as their forehead. Standard health requirements are for patients to be healthy enough to undergo an elective operation.
Are there age requirements for brow lifting?
There is no specific age requirement. It is a question of whether or not your brow is excessively low. If not, there wouldn’t be enough benefit to make the procedure a viable option.
Preparation for a brow lift
A consultation is the first step to any procedure. This consultation includes your surgeon:
Reviewing your medical records
Come to the consultation ready to answer any questions your surgeon has about your medical conditions (present as well as past). The medications you are taking prescribed by a doctor, as well as OTC, should be listed. If you have any medication allergies that you are aware of, let your doctor know.
Your face and brow line will be measured and examined with eyes open and closed.
It’s not only the surgeon who should be setting your expectations, but you set expectations for the surgeon as well. Explain to them what you are looking to see in the mirror once this is complete so they know what you’re expecting. They will help you understand what is possible, the benefits, and the risks.
Risks of brow lift procedure
A brow lift comes with risks, they are:
- Scarring – scarring of the incision. This can be treated if needed.
- Changes in feeling – some numbness or loss of feeling in the area.
- Hair growth issues – hair loss can happen at the incision site . If this doesn’t fix itself over time, it can be treated.
