Weight loss procedures are among the most desired in the full suite of cosmetic services. People desire to be thinner, with a flat stomach. It isn’t always easy to achieve. There are many people who have a hard time and turn to surgery or nonsurgical weight loss procedures. CoolSculpting vs liposuction, which is better for you?

When talking about surgical procedures for fat loss, liposuction is the most common. On the non-surgical side, there are many options. CoolSculpting is becoming more and more popular. In this post, we will break down the procedures a little bit and compare them.

Of course, going to talk to a board-certified surgeon is going to be the best bet to know what is going to work well for you specifically, but it never hurts to do some research of your own before doing that!

CoolSculpting vs Liposuction

There are advantages and disadvantages to everything in life, including plastic surgery procedures. “CoolSculpting vs liposuction” is a topic we see all the time surfing online through chat rooms and forums. People around the world wonder which is better for them. Allow us to break them down for you a bit.

CoolSculpting

Most of the people who utilize the CoolSculpting procedure have small to medium sized problem areas of fat that they would like to melt away. These areas can be just about anywhere on the body. Commonly, people seek to remove lower belly fat, love handles (flanks), and thighs. We also commonly see patients seeking treatment around the neckline and the “double chin” area.

Benefits of the CoolSculpting procedure

The CoolSculpting procedure is great because of the flexibility and the lack of any downtime needed. The drawback is that you are only able to treat small levels of fat. When larger amounts of fatty tissue need to be treated, other procedures, like lipo, come into play.

Liposuction

Liposuction differs from CoolSculpting in that it can be used to treat large deposits of fat and completely remove them from the body in many different ways. Results are seen faster, right after the surgery is completed. As this is a surgical procedure, unlike CoolSculpting, there IS downtime and follow up required to make sure that everything is settling in and healing correctly. After large fat loss surgeries, the areas where fat was removed need time to heal

Post-op healing process

We are going to be publishing another post shortly on the post-op healing process for liposuction, but for the time being, know that you will often be asked to wear compression garments to keep the area tight after liposuction. This allows the body to heal and the skin to fuse to the more interior layers of fat that are present in the body after much of it has been removed. If there is no compression garment worn, the empty area left behind by the removal of fat could fill with fluid. This is not what we want to happen.
